EIRGRID WANTS TO MOVE TO NEXT STAGE OF PROJECT

EirGrid has welcomed two decisions by the High Court in Dublin that reaffirmed planning approval in the Republic for the controversial North South electricity interconnector. Planning approval for the project was granted by An Bord Pleanála in December 2016.

This was challenged by the North East Pylon Pressure Campaign and in a separate case by environmental campaigner Val Martin. The proceedings were dismissed by the High Court last August and an appeal was subsequently made by the NEPPC.
