TRIBUTES TO ONE OF THE GAA’S MOST COLOURFUL SONS

LIAM STIRRAT (1949-2017)

LIAM STIRRAT was just 68 years old when he passed to his eternal reward suddenly and unexpectedly at his home in Scotstown on the morning of Tuesday, November 21st, and news of his death evoked a deep sense of shock and almost disbelief, not only in his native Scotstown, but throughout the County of Monaghan and much further afield.

With his passing his family has lost a beloved husband, father and grandfather and the GAA in Scotstown and Monaghan has lost one of its most famous, most dedicated and colourful sons, as he served both Club and County with distinction in a variety of roles and always bringing a great sense of honour to every position that he held.

As news of his death spread Liam’s popularity was evident as it brought an increasing stream of mourners to his home to pay their respects and to sympathise with his wife and family….
