“Ireland would not work if there was no community – community is the base of all that goes on.” So commented Pride of Place judge William Beatty from Co Tyrone after he and fellow adjudicator Donal Connolly from Co Waterford had completed their inspection of the three Co Monaghan entrants in this year’s Co-operation-Ireland organised competition, which has the declared aim of “acknowledging the work that communities do all over Ireland.”
