It was goals that counted in Clones on Sunday last as Donegal hit four to clinch their second TG4 Ulster senior ladies senior football championship title and, in the process, end Monaghan’s hopes of retaining the provincial title and landing their 10th crown in all.

In what was an eagerly awaited final, the match did not disappoint and was played at an electric pace straight from the throw in. It must be said though that over the hour Donegal proved too hot and particularly the dynamic trio of Geraldine McLaughlin, Yvonne McMonagle and Niamh Hegarty who were on fire.

With Donegal isolating the trio in their forward line Monaghan simply could not curtail them and had Linda Martin not been in super form with some outstanding saves the eventual winners would..
