ANTI PYLON GROUPS HIT OUT AT MINISTERS OVER NEW INTERCONNECTOR STUDY

Campaigners against EirGrid’s proposed overhead interconnectorlinking electricity grids on both sides of the border have strongly criticised the latest move by the Communications Minister, Denis Naughten TD to set up a second study into levels of compensation for landowners. The County Monaghan Anti- Pylon Committee also accused Minister Heather Humphreys TD of miselading a recent meeting between Oireachtas members and Monaghan County Councillors over the terms of reference for the new study.

Minister Humphreys said she absolutely refuted any suggestion she had misled the meeting, the details of which were reported in last week’s issue. She said she would continue to pursue the matter and that EirGrid had not convinced her that…
