– Indiscriminate lighting of fires could devastate major Monaghan Town amenity warns Councillor Treanor

Rossmore Forest Park outside Monaghan Town were warned this week that they ran the risk of devastating the major scenic amenity.

Independent Co Councillor Seamus Treanor told Monday’s meeting of the Monaghan Municipal District that he had been made aware of a small element of people lighting fires in the park.

He warned that if an unattended fire were to ignite a blaze in the trees of the amenity it could cause major destruction to woodland and wildlife and also endanger campers.
