LOCAL HERO TOOK THE HEAT IN DRAGONS’ DEN!
By Veronica Corr
Art McArdle from Inniskeen and now living in Magheracloone, played a blinder on Sunday night’s Dragons’ Den on RTE One. The inventor of Heat Hero, based on the Shercock Road, Carrickmacross, asked Dragons for an investment of €60,000 and he succeeded.
Eleanor McEvoy, the Dragon most involved in the energy sector, put her money where her mouth was, in return for 32% of the company that Art owns and runs with his wife Adrienne.
The down-to-earth plumbing entrepreneur was a big hit with the Dragons with his quick wit and relaxed, natural presentationstyle. Art sat down with The Northern Standard the day after his television debut when the phone was hopping off the hook with well-wishers, as well as people eager to place orders for Heat Hero.
Over a cup of tea, Art told our reporter that he was nervous going into the Den, but he didn’t show it, perhaps because he had rehearsed his pitch….
