AUGHNAMULLEN HOLD NERVE TO SECURE VICTORY

Aughnamullen laid down a marker in this year’s IFL by dint of their comprehensive 2-19 to 3-6 victory over visitors Emyvale in an interesting first round tie on Saturday last.

Ironically, Emyvale started the brighter of the two teams with an opening goal and point which put them in the driving seat.

However Aughnamullen slowly but surely got themselves into the game and they soon went on a scoring spree with points including aces from Chris Keenan(two), Michael Bannigan (three) and Colin Clerkin (five).
The Sarsfields remained on the front foot with Emyvale having to work hard to reap a dividend from intermittent counter attacks.
