A tenth Monaghan senior goal for Darren Hughes and a 400th inter-county point for Conor McManus helped Monaghan secure a first ever Allianz National Football League win on Mayo soil last Saturday evening.

A determined effort by Monaghan saw them earn a valuable two points in chilly Castlebar to once again start their Division One campaign on the front foot. The result saw Monaghan launch the year with an away win for the third time in a row, as well as continuing their record of not having lost a league opener out of five under Malachy O’Rourke.
