HISTORY-MAKING CEREMONY AS… CARRICK LAWYER IS SWORN IN AS NEW JUDGE

HISTORY was made for Carrickmacross and South Monaghan on Tuesday last when popular local lawyer, Mr. Gerry Jones was sworn in as a new District Court judge.

The impressive swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Chief Justice, Ms. Susan Denham in Dublin’s Four Courts building.

Mr. Jones was informed of his elevation to the Bench only in late January. The Carrickmacross native studied law at National University Galway, Incorporated Law Society and qualified as a solicitor in 1981. He started his own thriving Carrickmacross practice of G. Jones & Company, Solicitors, in May 1983.
There was a very large attendance present in the Supreme Court for the ceremony from all across Ireland, comprising of Judge Jones’s wife, Jackie, and the couple’s three children, Emily, Tom and Daniel; Gerry’s brothers, sisters and other family members, as well as a great many friends and well-wishers drawn from …
