THE NORTHERN STANDARD R & S PRINTERS MONAGHAN GAA ANNUAL AWARDS NIGHT
The Annual Northern Standard/R&S Printers GAA Awards attracted its customary large crowd when the 2016 model was staged on Friday night last at the Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan town.
Some of the best current football and hurling talent were on the receiving end of the prized awards as well as some stars from the past and not so recent past.
The stars from the past were, as usual, singularly honoured by means of the Hall of Fame Awards.
In 2016, the following became the latest editions to that elite category of winners and they are; Paddy Linden (Ballybay); Ray McCarron (Scotstown) and Ciaran Murray (Clones).
Paddy Linden first represented Monaghan in 1978, winning an Ulster senior championship medal the following year in 1979 and then recovering from a career threatening car crash in 1981 to win further championship medals in 1985 and 1988 as well as picking up a National League medal …
