Given the success that Monaghan had enjoyed in recent years 2016 was a year when expectations were high but there was a slight lingering doubt due to the fact that Monaghan were never able to field at full strength due to injuries to key players and that came back to haunt them as they surrendered their Ulster crown and just about survived in League Division 1 although there was some redemption and cause for optimism with the success of the U21 team. by JOHN GRAHAM
