CURRIN CLUBMAN IS A RECORD-BREAKER

If ever there was someone in the GAA who was the epitome of the motto, “One Life, One Club”, it is the Treasurer of the Currin Club, Brian McCabe, who sets a new national record of 59 consecutive years service in his capacity as Club Treasurer.

Brian was returned as Treasurer at the club’s recent AGM but he is totally unfazed by the record that he has established although his service has been recognised on a couple of occasions. After 43 years service he was awarded the Club Official of the Year in Monaghan back in 2002 and later still when he completed 50 years in that position, equalling the club record as Club Secretary, that the late Paddy O’Rourke of Inniskeen had established he was the guest of honour and the recipient of a special presentation at a function to recognise his achievement. On that occasion few thought that in 10 years time he would establish a new GAA National record of his own but such is his dedication to the position and his efficiency in that job the current club was only too happy to stay with the tried and trusted.
