JUNIOR LEAGUE CHAMPIONS LAST YEAR HAVE RISEN TO NEW HEIGHTS

Killanny, who won the junior football league last year, are through to their second league final in successive seasons when they booked their place, with the minimum to spare, in the final of the intermediate football league where they will meet next door neighbours Inniskeen on Sunday.

Tyholland had home advantage in last Sunday’s semi-final but in the end it wasn’t enough as Killanny closed out a tight, low scoring encounter after getting over a faltering start.

Tyholland started well and registered 2 points, both from frees by Shane Treanor, to lead by 2 points after 6 minutes. By the 20th minute though Killanny had not only cancelled out that disadvantage but had actually taken the lead with points by Gavin Flanagan and Peter Dooley with two from frees to leave it 0-3 to 0-2 at that stage…
