All spheres of businesses in Monaghan Town were encouraged this week to give their active participation to a new Voucher Scheme with the goal of promoting and supporting commercial outlets and services in the locality.

Developed by Monaghan Town Team in close association with the Monaghan Municipal District and Monaghan Credit Union, the voucher initiative was formally launched at a function in the Market House on Tuesday evening.

The Town Team are launching the Monaghan Town Voucher as a way to continue to promote local businesses in Monaghan Municipal District and reduce economic leakage whilst retaining as much local spending as possible.

The team are seeking to register as many businesses as possible to participate, accept and generate a wide appeal for the voucher. A €20 registration fee will be required to accept the shop local town voucher, which will help cover some of the associated costs.

The initial print run is of €150,000 worth of vouchers that will be available for the local market.

Dundalk and Carrickmacross have recently operated two very successful town vouchers with Christmas takings reaching €200,000 and €100,000 respectively.
“The Monaghan Town Voucher will be commission free and can only be spent in the Monaghan Municipal District thus supporting local spending and employment,” the Monaghan Town Team said in a recent statement.

“We have a number of security features built into the voucher including; Sequential Numbering, Foil Hologram and Each voucher will be embossed with our Monaghan Town Team Stamp.
