Artists and Acts from east to west of north America, Europe and Ireland are well represented in this year’s line-up who are converging on Monaghan Town this weekend, to celebrate the joy of the music.

Variety is the spice of life and this has been sprinkled throughout this year’s programming. It’s when local becomes international and the world of Music becomes local to Monaghan in quoting from Patrick Kavanagh an Artist of International calibre yet rooted in the Local “I have lived in important places, times When great events were decided….” Monaghan Rhythm & Blues Festival is just such an event , how else would our Local Stars of today & tomorrow such as Gráinne Duffy , Clara Rose, Paul Sherry’s, Monaghan Blues Jam, The alternative Blues Stage will be mixing it up with the International calibre acts heading to Monaghan tomorrow Artists like Rick Vito whose pedigree is such that this page has not enough room in it to shout out all the names he has performed with , suffice to say that he was lead Guitarist with Fleetwood Mac for 4 years.

The Festival itself has 3 separate elements to it and each one of them creates its own momentum over the weekend. The Market House hold the acoustic sessions where 5 Artists perform and engage with their audience it gives the public an opportunity to engage with them and to get up close and personal.

The Fantastic 5 on the Blues Trail is where the best of our Blues hostelries get to set up music for both their customers and visitors to the town to meet up again as old friends made over the years of the festival almost 30 free sessions are provided here with no cover charge.

The late night marquee is the final part of the festival jigsaw and a unique part of this festival in that it becomes the home of The International , National & Local Acts who grace the main stage who plug in and let rip. If you feel like you have the stamina hold on to some reserves to attend at least a night here, as the sean fhocal says “ní bheidh a leithead ann arís”
