The Monaghan 10 & 5 Miler continues to enjoy great success following a super turn out last Sunday. Athletic clubs both locally and nationally were represented by over 600 athletes taking part on the day. Hosted by the members of Monaghan Town Runners, the race passed through Monahgan and out to Ballinode village with the finish line at Coral Leisure Centre. One of the highlights of the day was the support athletes received along the route from the people of Monaghan and Ballinode. Monaghan Town Runners were also delighted to present a donation to Coral Leisure’s chosen charity the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Freddy Keron Sittuk narrowly beat Glaslough Harriers athlete and national 5k champion Conor Duffy to win the men’s 10 mile event with Mark McKinstry in 3rd. The ladies 10 mile event was won by Clarie McGuigan from Lifford AC, followed by Eimear O’Brien and in 3rd Rose Lambe from Carrick Aces.

The members of Monaghan Town Runners would especially like to thank An Garda Siochana for their assistance with course management, Civil Defence for their support, Coral Leisure Monaghan for their continued partnership, Monaghan County Council for assisting with course structure, all the stewards who came along to help, McConnon’s Shop Old Cross Square for their timely assistance Teach Na Daoine Family Resource centre and of course our sponsors:
