A unique and celebratory occasion took place in the St Joseph’s Pastoral Centre in Monaghan Town on Tuesday last when local businessman Raju Hasan and his bride Fateha Khatun celebrated their wedding in accordance with the customs and traditions of their Muslim culture.

  Originally from Sylhet, Bangladesh, Mr Hasan is a well-known member of the local community, working in one of the town’s most popular restaurant establishments, the Eastern Balti House at 34 Market Street.

A cross-section of guests from the local community mingled with Raju and Fateha’s immediate and extended family members, friends and acquaintances, with several local businesses making a significant input to the elaborate organisational arrangements attendant to the wedding.

Raju’s parents Mr Shayak Ali and Mrs Sufia Begum, and Fateha’s parents Mr Mosrob Ali and Mrs Rahena Khatun, warmly greeted the guests, among whom was Very Rev Fr Paddy McGinn, Administrator of the St Joseph’s Presbytery in Monaghan Town.
