County Monaghan Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League Round Up

Clontibret moved top of the County Monaghan Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League after taking three points last week.

The first of those was earned in a draw with neighbours Doohamlet last Wednesday. Clontibret raced ahead in this game and Conor McManus led them to a 1-8 to 1-4 half-time lead, a four-point gap that they maintained until a spirited final quarter by Doohamlet earned them a share of the spoils on a scoreline of 1-12 apiece. Clontibret were then never behind as they battled their way to a low-scoring 0-10 to 0-7 win over Latton on Saturday.

Ballybay lost their unbeaten record when they fell to a 3-11 to 0-16 defeat away to Magheracloone on Wednesday and they also lost at Carrickmacross on Sunday, when a brace of goals by Kevin O’Hanlon helped the Emmets to a 2-11 to 1-13 win; their first since the opening round. O’Hanlon had also found the net, along with James Conlon, to give Carrick a 2-2 to 0-4 lead at the half-way stage of Wednesday’s game away to Scotstown, but Conor McCarthy came off the bench to hit a brace of goals within five minutes of the restart.
