Who were Monaghan GAA’s big hitters in 2015? Who were the most outstanding local performers in the world of Gaelic games over the past year? Tomorrow night (Friday) all will be revealed at the Hillgrove Hotel when the annual Northern Standard/Monaghan GAA Awards night takes place.

What can be revealed is that Scotstown tyro Darren Hughes and Rockcorry’s rock-solid Niall McKeown will be hot-footing it to the stage to collect their second prestigious award each for the second time in a week after their recent selections on the Ulster Club All-Stars team.

Hughes will pick up the 2015 Monaghan Senior footballer of the Year award tomorrow night (Friday) with McKeown lifting the corresponding junior award, just two days before he plays in the All Ireland club junior semi final.

There will be the usual suspects on parade at the Hillgrove, of course, including one, namely the Anglo Celt Cup, who has been present at the Monaghan awards night twice in the last three years, following Monaghan’s success back in 2013 and last year.

There will be a bumper programme of presentations at the Hillgrove with the Ulster Senior Football Championship medals, the annual awards, the induction of two more members into the Hall of Fame and the presentations to the referees who handled the various championship finals last year.

Of course, it goes without saying that those attending are advised to be punctual as proceedings get under way with dinner at 7:30 PM sharp.

A number of tickets for the night are still available to purchase from…
