The newly appointed Monaghan Town co-ordinator for retail strategy development, Trevor Connolly, will be present at tonight’s launch in the Westenra Arms Hotel of the new website of the Monaghan Has It group.

The Monaghan Municipal District recently approved the appointment of a co-ordinator as part of an initiative to revitalise trade in the town centre and address a number of issues pinpointed as impeding commercial development in the county capital.

Mr Connolly told The Northern Standard this week that the new website is the culmination of months of hard work by the Monaghan Has It web team and wider committee.

“The website will be used to promote Monaghan Town as a diverse destination for retail,” he stated.

“It will also promote events and news relevant to the town, and will itself be promoted on all marketing material going forward.”

Noting that 150 businesses in the town were currently listed on the website, Mr Connolly urged any businesses not included to get in touch, and advised those listed to review their business information and submit any alterations or additions they wished to make.

The website went live earlier in the week, and its official launch tonight at 8 pm will also feature a brief discussion on future retail strategy in Monaghan Town. Refreshments will be served.
