The design plans for the new secondary school in Kingscourt, Co Cavan will be unveiled to the public tomorrow, Friday August 14 at 8 pm in Cabra Castle.

Planning permission for the new school has been granted by Cavan Co Council to Cavan Monaghan Education and Training Board.

Speaking following the announcement Martin O’Brien, Chief Executive of the ETB welcomed the granting of planning, saying that it was a very significant development and that he was looking forward to the commencement of work on site before the end of the year.

He encouraged all members of the community to attend the public meeting where the plans and digital images will be on display. ETB staff will be available on the night to answer questions about the school.

Dún na Rí College, Kingscourt will open in September 2016 and will cater for up to 500 pupils. CMETB is the patron of the new school. The site for the school extends to approx. 14 acres and the new build will be approx. 6,000 square metres and comprises of a standalone PE Hall, a Special Needs Unit and a Fitness Suite.
