Ladies Senior Football Championship

Donegal       2-12

Monaghan        1-10

Monaghan senior ladies failed in their bid to win back the SFC Ulster title on Sunday last after a somewhat lacklustre performance at rain drenched St Tiernach’s Park Clones, going down by 1-10 to 2-12.

Just prior to the 10th minute Laura McEneaney was sinbinned for Monaghan which was a grave setback.

With 15 minutes on the clock, Geraldine McLaughlin and Cora Courtney (Monaghan) pointed for both teams respectively to keep things on an even keel.

Moments later, Donegal brought on Therese McCafferty to help out in the midfield area and she made her presence felt for the rest of the game.

Cathriona Mc Connell pointed from a free to send Monaghan one up going into the sixteenth minute but sadly that was the last time that Monaghan went in front.

From that score onwards, it was all Donegal, as they hit a purple patch which yielded five points in total with Geraldine McLaughlin grabbing three and Yvonne McMonagle and Amber Barrett hitting….
