The Northern Standard has learned this week that Mr. Eugene Cummins is to resign as Chief Executive at Monaghan County Council to take up a similar position in Roscommon. Members of Monaghan County Council have been informed of Mr. Cummins’ decision and Cathaoirleach Noel Keelan has wished him well in his new position.

The Cathaoirleach confirmed the news by commenting: “Mr. Cummins rang me Tuesday evening as a courtesy to say he had been offered the position of Chief Executive of Roscommon County Council. It looks like he will be taking up the position around October/November.”

It is understood that an Acting Chief Executive will be appointed to Monaghan County Council following Mr. Cummins’ departure. “First of all, as Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council I would like to thank the Chief Executive for his work and efforts over the past year and a half. He is wished every success in Roscommon,”
