CLONES HANDBAG THEFT WOMAN WARNED TO STAY OUT OF TROUBLE FOR A YEAR

A 34-YEAR-OLD woman who stole a handbag belonging to another customer from a bar in Clones has been warned to stay out of trouble over the next 12 months if she wants to avoid going to prison.

At Monaghan District Court on Monday, Petrina Williams of 54 Ardkeen, Cavan Town, Co Cavan, admitted stealing a handbag at Packie Willie’s Bar, the Diamond, Clones on 16th February 2014.

Inspector Peter Gilsenan said the defendant had been socialising in the pub when she took a handbag belonging to another lady. The bag was subsequently recovered, but the injured party had reported that €160 was missing from it.

Maria Connolly, solr, pointed out that the summons in this case was in respect of the handbag only, which was valued at €20. While her client was pleading guilty to this, she was completely denying taking any money out of the bag.
