SF COUNCILLOR CITES GARDA COMMISSIONER’S LETTER TO REFUTE DIESEL LAUNDERING ALLEGATIONS AGAINST REPUBLICANS

Sinn Féin’s Brian McKenna cited a letter from the office of the Garda Commissioner at Monday’s meeting of Monaghan Co Council which he said refuted accusations made in relation to Republicans at the Council’s previous meeting when diesel laundering and the problem the local authority faced in dealing with the toxic waste material from the activity were discussed.

The letter in question was sent to the SF Spokesperson on Justice, Donegal North East TD Pádraig MacLochlainn TD, from Frank Walsh, Superintendent and Private Secretary to the Commissioner, and related to a story by journalist Jim Cusack published in a recent edition of the Sunday Independent.

The letter read:

“Dear Deputy MacLochlainn,

“I am directed by the Commissioner to refer to your email correspondence dated 1 February 2015.
