A letter protesting the downgrading of services at Monaghan General Hospital was handed to Taoiseach Enda Kenny during his visit to Monaghan last Friday by Sinn Fein member of Monaghan Co Council Sean Conlon.

Colr Conlon, who is Cathaoirleach of the Monaghan Municipal District and Chairman of the Board of Management of the Garage Theatre, met Mr Kenny when he was present to perform the official opening of the Monaghan Education Campus facility at Knockaconny.

The SF representative briefly discussed the hospital issue with the Taoiseach in what appeared a decidedly cordial, if pointed, brief exchange before – in fulfilment of what was once a standard policy of Monaghan Co Council when Government dignitaries visited – he passed to him the hospital protest missive.
