BRAZILIAN NATIONALS REMANDED AFTER INCIDENT AT ‘ESCORT HOUSE’ IN MONAGHAN

TWO Brazilian nationals were remanded in custody at Monaghan District Court on Monday of this week, in connection with an incident last Sunday at a premises in Monaghan town that was described in court by one witness as an ‘escort house’ and by another as a ‘brothel’.

Jason Reis, aged 20, with addresses at Cluain Fraoigh, Lanesboro Road, Roscommon and at an apartment in Lahinch, Co Clare is charged with failing to produce on demand a valid passport or other equivalent documentation, with the production of an article in the course of a dispute, and with three counts of assault — on Cristian Mocanu, Viorel Caterov and Ionica Mogildea — at 4 Stanley Terrace Monaghan on Last Sunday, 1st February.

His co-accused, Fabricio Riberio Goncalves (26), with an address at 2 Sandhill Lodge, Lahinch, Co Clare is charged with failing to produce on demand a valid passport or other equivalent documentation, and also with producing an article in the course of a dispute at the same place and date.

During Monday’s bail application, it was indicated through their solicitor, Mr Damien Rudden, that both men were denying the charges
