Players representing schools from seven counties received their Post-Primary All-Star awards at a function on Friday night at Kelly’s Inn.

Once again, county Monaghan featured prominently in the annual awards ceremony.

There was double joy for the famed St. Louis, Carrick place of sporting and academic excellence.

Two St. Louis students, Holly Lynch and Lauren Jones from St. Louis, Carrickmacross were among the elite players chosen for the second consecutive year; a distinct honour in itself.

Holly was chosen for her superior goal keeping skill while at the other end of the pitch Lauren was chosen her scoring excellence.

Holly plays her club football with Baileborough Shamrocks and has held the position of Cavan goalkeeper for a number of years. She has an impressive role of honours with her club, county and school.

Her favourite players are Caron Fay and Sean Cavanagh.

Lauren hails from Magheracloone Mitchells and spends her time playing Gaelic football, Basketball and taking part in Athletics for which she has represented Ulster in the All-Ireland Championships.

Her favourite Ladies players are Edel Gargan and Diarmuid Connolly.

The staff and students of St. Louis, Carrickmacross are extremely proud of the girls achievements and wish them every success in the All-Ireland Interprovincial tournament at the weekend.

Both girls will be involved in an inter-provincial schools tournament to take place in Kinnegad, Mullingar on Saturday, January 24th, starting at 11am.
