Monaghan’s bid to regain the All-Ireland Ladies’ Senior Football Championship title has received a boost with the announcement that well-respected coach Peter Clark has assumed the mantle of senior team manager for the coming year. Clark comes to the hot-seat with very good credentials, having enjoyed particularly high profile success at colleges’ level. While attached to the ladies team at Dublin City University, he steered them to three O’Connor Cup titles and, under his watch, DCU were presented with the 2011 Award for Excellence in Coaching. Clark brings with him to the Monaghan job a strong backroom team, a number of whom boast years of experience of colleges as well as intercounty experience. See inside for more details of the ladies’ county board appointment.
