Monaghan Sports Partnership has been involved in supporting the Blackwater 10k event since its inception in 2008 and views the event as one of its flagship events within County Monaghan due to its vast scale and community involvement. The run and walk accommodates a huge turn out to North Monaghan and has the unique attraction of bringing people through Rossmore Forest Park – what is a very enjoyable (if somewhat challenging at times) walking / running route.

Monaghan Sports Partnership strives to ensure that ‘partnership’ is at the heart of our work and there is no better example of this than the Blackwater 10k with its true community and voluntary spirit to the fore alongside the valuable contribution of its sponsors.

Sports Partnership Coordinator, Michelle Murphy states; ‘The Blackwater10k is a ‘must-have’ in our annual calendar – the Sports Partnership would not coordinate such an event on its own and therefore the event is dependent on the large number of people who commit their time or resources to making it a success alongside a very dedicated committee. Many local charities have benefitted substantially from the event and this is great to see. We are delighted that a sporting group like Monaghan Special Olympics are the 2014 beneficiaries’.

The Blackwater 10k is one in a number of events being supported by the Monaghan Sports Partnership. The Sports Partnership also runs a host of local community information activity programmes throughout the year. For any further information, please contact Monaghan Sports Partnership on 042-9755126 or email or check out our website and facebook page. We look forward to hearing from you.

We would like to take this opportunity to extend our best wishes to the committee, the volunteers and all the walkers and runners this Sunday for another successful event.
