MONAGHAN staged a power packed performance in Croke Park on Sunday last to take their second piece of league silverware in 12 months when they totally outclassed Donegal in this Allianz Football League Division 2 Final that was played in bright if blustery conditions at headquarters.
A year ago Monaghan clinched the division 3 trophy with victory over Meath and on Sunday last they added the division 2 title for the second time and in the process scotched the persistent rumour that last year’s Ulster final victory over Donegal was a flash in the pan.

On Sunday last at headquarters the pan was hot again as Monaghan sizzled and Donegal struggled and while the Donegal team management were complimentary about Monaghan’s victory there was still the tendency to cast some aspersions on aspects of last year’s Ulster final triumph by Monaghan.

On Sunday last there could be no disputing who the better team was as Monaghan outplayed, out fought and out thought as well as outscored a Donegal team that was never allowed to develop the game that they like to play …
