A third trophy in the space of 12 months and a seriously impressive performance made it a day to remember for Monaghan at Croke Park. by COLM SHALVEY

One year to the day after lifting the Allianz National Football League Division Three title, Monaghan won the Division Two Final with a fully-merited six-point win over Donegal. Manager Malachy O’Rourke spoke about Monaghan’s desire to prove that last year’s Ulster final win against the same opposition was no one-off and they certainly managed that, as they were every bit as convincing as in July 2013.

After trailing early on, Monaghan led from the 15th minute through to the final whistle and they were in no way flattered by their winning margin, which was the same as that glorious day in Clones.
