DOOGAN BLOW IN COUNTDOWN TO CROKER CLASH WITH DONEGAL

Monaghan’s Allianz National Football League Division Two Final against Donegal, Malachy O’Rourke will be hoping to have as near a clean bill of health as possible for his panel come April 27. There has already been one casualty, as Gavin Doogan has been ruled out for six weeks with a broken bone in his foot. Doogan is, up to now, one of only two Monaghan players to have started all 11 competitive games this year – along with Fintan Kelly – but he is due to be out for six weeks. That means the Magheracloone man also faces a race against time to be 100% fit for the start of the championship in June.

Most of the county panellists were on club duty last weekend, but Darren and Kieran Hughes sat out Scotstown’s Senior Football League win over Castleblayney on Saturday, while Owen Lennon and Owen Duffy missed Latton’s victory against Magheracloone and Monaghan Harps’ victory over Currin came too soon for Shane Smyth in his recovery from a hamstring injury.
