BAWN HANDBALL
Bawn handball club, It was a historic day for the club last Saturday when before a packed crowd in clarecastle co Clare Gavin Coyle won the u17s all-ireland final. He faced mikey Maher from Tipperary and from the start Gavin took control of the game going 7-0 up mikey tryed to get back into the game but he was overwhelmed with the speed and power of Gavins shots, 21-9 was the winning score in the 1st game and it was a similar story in the 2nd with Gavin never in danger and make no mistakes to win 21-6, the Bawn crowd were thrilled and the celebrations soon kicked of, some fans even forgetting to go home.
Despite getting to many finals in the past nobody from the club has ever gotten across the finish line to lift this prestigious title. Gavin took up handball later in life than many juvenile players but the amount of time and effort he has put in is extraordinary, hours were spent perfecting serves and killshots sometimes 7 nights a week.!
The club would like to thank the players and coaches from other clubs that have helped Gavin over the year’s with there time and advice. Finally we congratulate Gavin and his family on this fantastic achievement. We also congratulate Connor mc Donnell and Paul Cassidy on there fantastic all-ireland golden masters win, well done lads.!
