NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE CAMPAIGN GETS OFF TO A FALSE START FOR MONAGHAN LADIES

New county team-manager John Morrisson and his charges experienced disappointment last weekend when their scheduled Tesco Homegrown NFL Round One fixture against Dublin was postponed.

As the country got battered by strong winds and heavy rain, it didn’t come as a complete surprise to anyone that the pitch at Aughnamullen was sadly deemed unplayable.

It is anticipated that the fixture will be re-scheduled for a later date, possibly the end of February or sometime in March.

Laois are the opponents this coming weekend in Round 2 and with games with Monaghan being sometimes tight affairs, nothing can be taken for granted this Sunday in Aughnamullen (2pm).

Having won their first round clash over Donegal by a comfortable margin, 2-18 to 3-5, it can be virtually guaranteed that the midlanders will go into this weekend’s tie in a …
