A commitment to working with the elected members and executive of Monaghan Co Council to fully develop the newly emerging local authority role in fostering enterprise and economic development was made by new Co Manager Eugene Cummins when he attended his first meeting of the authority on Monday.

“My emphasis will be on economic development and everything we can do to create and promote jobs,” Mr Cummins stated when he was introduced to the members by Co Mayor Sean Conlon prior to the Council commencing deliberations on its 2014 Budget on Monday morning.

Mayor Conlon said that Mr Cummins became an Assistant Engineer with Roscommon Co Council in the early 1980s and also served as Executive Engineer with Limerick Co Council before commencing a nine-year period with Galway Co Council in November 1992, where he served as Senior Executive Engineer and Ballinasloe Town Engineer. In that time he became Senior Engineer with the Co Council.
