COURT HEARS OF GARDA RAID ON MONAGHAN BROTHEL

THREE Romanian nationals — a man and two women — were ordered to return to their home country after pleading guilty to brothel keeping when they appeared at Monday’s sitting of Monaghan District Court.
Madalina Enache (who is aged 18 and turns 19 on Thursday next, 16th January), Nicoletta Mitran (21) and Adrian Salageac (25), all with an address at 38 St Brigid’s Place, Portlaoise, Co Laois, were each charged with brothel keeping at ‘Montserrat’, Latlurcan, Monaghan town on 8th November of last year.

Inspector James O’Leary said the Director of Public Prosecutions had indicated that the case (which was brought under the name of Garda Stella Feeney) could be dealt with in the District Court.

The inspector said Sergeant Stephen Kelly and other gardai had obtained a warrant to search the premises in Latlurcan, where they found two females and one male running a brothel.

Paraphernalia associated with the running of a brothel had been found in the house, Insp O’Leary said.
The three, who were all of Romanian nationality, were arrested, and all had admitted they were involved in the offence (contrary to Section 11 of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act, 1993), he added.
