DONAGHMOYNE completed the minor division 2 double in Inniskeen on Saturday afternoon last when they secured the GRM Minor Football league Division 2 title.

Donaghmoyne proved too potent, especially in the second half, for a spirited Killanny whose cause wasn’t helped by the dismissal of Dermot Leegan on a red card and Conor Vernon on a second yellow within minutes of each other.

Donaghmoyne were determined to play to their strengths as they moved Mikey Murnaghan from full forward to midfield as control there was vital. The introduction of David Garland at the start of the second half was also to have a marked effect and his two goals went a long way to securing the title for the Fontenoys.

Killanny created the first attack right from the throw-in but were off target from a free, a problem that was to recur for them during the game.

Five minutes into the game Donaghmoyne opened the scoring with a good point from left half back Ronan McDonald and five further minutes had elapsed before Killanny opened their account with a point by Dermot Leegan.
