A poor start by Monaghan who were 0 – 6 from two pens after just 8 mins of play, Virginia looked the more hungrier team and it took Monaghan about 15 mins before they settled into the game.

Monaghan made lots of silly mistakes, loosing ball at the rucks and poor decision making, eventually Monaghan got a 5mtr scrum and Mark McArdle picked and scored in the corner. Virginia were now down to 14 men when their fullback went over on his ankle, the game was held up for 20 mins as to wait for an Ambulance to arrive and take care of him.

Even with advantage of extra man, Monaghan got it hard to put phases together, eventually from a good lineout and good backplay, Darren Berry found a gap and crashed …
