SCOTSTOWN GIVE RIVALS CLONTIBRET ‘THE BLUES’

Scotstown didn’t just win a first Gormley uPVC Senior Football Championship title in 20 years in Clones last Sunday; they blew a disappointing Clontibret away in the most one-sided county final since 1997.

Scotstown had impressed in the semi-final, but how much of that was down to a jaded-looking Ballybay performance remained unclear. Clontibret were expected to provide a tougher nut to crack, but a strangely lethargic display from them saw them fall to a second county final defeat in a row.

Scotstown burst out of the starting blocks, with Man-of-the-Match Dónal Morgan kicking two early points and although Conor McManus almost single-handedly dragged Clontibret level by ….
