MONAGHAN TO GET NEW COUNTY MANAGER

Acting Co Manager David Fallon made the surprise announcement at Monday’s meeting of Monaghan Co Council that he was retiring from local government in December.

Mr Fallon confirmed that recruitment towards filling the post of Monaghan Co Manager was currently underway, and indicated that an appointment would be in place by the end of October.

“You will be aware that the Manager’s position has been advertised,” he told the members. “A recruitment process is now underway, and a new Manager will be nominated at the end of October.”
Mr Fallon said he had enjoyed the position of Acting Co Manager, but he had reached retirement age and intended to retire at the beginning of December.

He thanked Co Mayor Sean Conlon and his predecessors, and all the councillors for their co-operation and courtesy. He wished the members well in their future endeavours.

The Acting Manager paid tribute to the Council management team and the staff “for their help and dedication in these difficult times”.
