REIGNING champions Ballybay recorded their second win in this year’s Gormley uPVC Senior Football championship with this victory over Latton on Sunday last in Inniskeen in what was a re-run of last year’s semi final.
This was a game where most of the drama was packed into the closing minutes as Ballybay fought back from being three points in arrears with five minutes to go to winning by four points, although it was a finish that generated a deal of controversy.

Three down with five minutes left, Ballybay equalised with three quick fire points from centre back Drew Wylie who was inspirational when he moved further outfield, Shane McGuinness and Paul Findlay from a free to leave it looking like a replay at that stage.

Latton however responded strongly and regained the lead with a point from a free two minutes into stoppage time, although Ballybay thought the award was a little generous, but it didn’t end there as there was further drama when substitute Hugh Malone got the vital touch in a goalmouth scramble to steer the ball past Sean Farmer and Latton incensed that they were not awarded a free out after a challenge on their keeper on his own goal line and they must now look to ….
