MONAGHAN moved to within a point of Fermanagh at the top of the NFL Division Three when they cruised to victory against Sligo in Clones last Sunday.
Monaghan, who led from start to finish, were on top throughout, even if some poor finishing prevented them from making it count in the first half.
The hosts eventually pulled away when Christopher McGuinness scored the only goal, meaning the margin between the teams was the only issue in the last 25 minutes.
Injury forced Darren Hughes to join fellow key man Conor McManus on the sideline, but Monaghan, who had eight scorers, had good performances from Dessie Mone, Colin Walshe and Neil McAdam in defence, Dick Clerkin in midfield and Kieran Hughes and Owen Duffy in attack.
