Lough Egish based food company Kozy Shack Europe Ltd is to close to with the loss of 27 jobs.
 The company which produces high quality dairy-based dessert products has confirmed to The Northern Standard that it will cease production in the coming weeks.

 In a statement Kozy Shack Ireland said:
“Following an extensive review of the Kozy Shack operation in Ireland, Land O’Lakes has advised staff of its intention to close its Kozy Shack facility in Co. Monaghan (Kozy Shack Europe, Ltd).
“The company is making this difficult decision as a result of market circumstances including changes in its customer base, as well as the business’s reliance on the creation of private label products which is not cost-effective, making it no longer viable to sustain the operation in this very challenging and competitive marketplace.

“The company has commenced a 30-day consultation period with the 27 employees involved, and we greatly regret the impact today’s announcement will have on our employees.”

Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fail TD Brendan Smith said news of the closure had come has a huge blow the 27 employees and their families.

He said: “This news follows on from the closure of other important enterprises where job losses were also incurred, particularly in the food industry.”

He complimented the company on the very high quality dairy-based dessert products it produced, and the employees on their quality …
