ROBBED KINGSCOURT BANK IS HIT BY AN ATM SCAM

A KINGSCOURT bank which was targeted by armed raiders earlier this year was hit again last week by ATM scammers and it has emerged that a number of customers had varying amounts drawn from their accounts.
Some customers expressed alarm on Monday by the grim discovery that cash was also drawn out of their accounts—- AFTER they alerted the Bank of Ireland, through the bank’s official helpline of the situation following the suspected illegal draw-off.
The ATM gang targeted the Bank of Ireland branch at Main Street in Kingscourt —-the same bank which was hit by an armed gang in a daring daylight raid earlier in the year.
According to gardai, the ATM raiders used a “very highly sophisticated scamming device to enable them to extract cash from the bank”.
It was believed detectives were investigating if some sensitive account files, which were believed to have been snatched by the raiders in the earlier robbery, had any significance in the latest crime.
While Bank of Ireland has assured all customers they will be fully reimbursed over the amounts taken as a result of the illicit ATM scamming, a number of customers have expressed concerns over the delay in halting the illegal draw-off of the cash. It emerged …
