It is a limited yet a very attractive programme of games in the county this weekend with the final of the junior football league, the replay of the minor football championship division 3 final as well as the semi finals of the intermediate and senior football leagues.
Both of Sunday’s Junior Football League finalists suffered early reverses in the junior football championship, Clones defeated in their first outing by Oram back on June 2nd and Aghabog defeated by Eire Og back on June 10th.
Clones recovered though to inflict a second defeat on Aghabog in the losers group thereby putting them out of the series and things did not look all that great for Aghabog at that stage. However they regrouped and refocused on the league and eventually finished in fourth place, ironically defeating Sunday’s opposition in the final round of matches to book the fourth semi final spot ahead of either Killanny or Oram.
Clones for their part followed that victory in the championship over Aghabog with a good win over Blackhill but then came unstuck in the semi finals when they were defeated by the eventual winners Drumhowan. They got adequate …
