A North Monaghan-based member of the HSE Regional Forum has said that many of the existing Home Help providers are to lose their jobs as a result of the HSE decision to further privatise home services, under ‘Home Care’ packages.
  Sinn Féin councillor Brian McKenna has been sharply critical of the HSE and how they have gone about their business in this regard.
  Speaking after the company successful in the procurement process, Bluebird Care, attempted to portray their role as providing additional employment Cllr. McKenna said: “The decision of the HSE to go through a procurement process for the provision of home care and home help without a bye or leave to those who have been providing this service over many years smacks of arrogance in the extreme.”
  “ Over the past number of weeks I have had discussions from many of these Home Helps who were unaware of what was happening. It has been the case that whenever their current clients passed away they were not being offered any new clients.”
