There was a jovial atmosphere at The Old Coach Inn, Castleblayney on Sunday 8th July as the town welcomed back “Spraoi” the group of 27 young, talented musicians and dancers representing Our Lady’s Secondary School, Castleblayney.
Under the expertise of the music teacher Cara Murray, Spraoi returned from Eisteddfod International World Music Festival with three awards, including one capturing the title of first place.
The group had previously won the title to represent Ireland in this prestigious competition which included groups from all over the world.
Parents and friends were treated to refreshments kindly sponsored by Mr. Raymond Watters, The Old Coach Inn, Castleblayney and in return the children performed for all those present. Mr. Aiden Campbell, Castleblayney Town Mayor was on hand to officially congratulate the group on once again putting Castleblayney’s abundance of talent in music and dance tradition on the international map.
