GARDAI are investigating a raid at the weekend on a major machinery centre at Monaghan Road, Castleblayney, in which it was estimated that close on €10,000 worth of equipment was taken.
The thieves forced their way through a window to gain entry to the premises owned by Castleblayney Plant Hire Limited and used a vehicle to make their getaway with the equipment in the early hours of last Monday morning.
The firm is headed by prominent local businessman Mr. Padraig Watters.
Gardai have appealed for any information from the public to help identify the culprits involved in the raid.
It is thought some of the machinery and equipment stolen may have been taken across the Border to the North.
The PSNI were also alerted about the raid.
A filling station in the area was also targeted by thieves over the weekend and Garda inquiries are continuing.
